Speaking of the DS Lite, Nintendo announced this morning that its cutting the MSRP for the five-year-old model to $99 starting June 5. While this price reduction likely doesn’t affect most of you, I wonder if this will pave the way for a 3DS markdown reveal at E3?

Nintendo also unveiled plans to begin repackaging six best-selling Mario games — New Super Mario Bros., Mario Kart DS, Super Mario 64 DS, Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story, Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem! and Mario Party — with red boxes next month to make them stand out to new DS owners.

Bowling alleys, roller skating rinks, and movie theaters have such a depressing selection of arcade games nowadays. You used to be able to find Street Fighter II cabinets, TMNT machines, and maybe even a Neo Geo MVS. Now you’d be lucky to see a Maximum Force cabinet with more than one working gun.
