DS/3DS Release Dates & Sales // Tiny Cartridge Stickers For Your Games!

Artwork for the reverse of Pandora’s Tower and The Last Story’s European covers, as chosen by fan votes. These are both way, way nice. That is some rad art to hide in the inside of a game cover.

Next year, Europeans will be able to go to the shop like it’s totally normal, pick up both of these games, and flip the covers around to these pieces. Then they can display the boxes on their shelves as proud trophies of the time that they bought two Wii games in 2012.

Meanwhile, Americans… actually, I’m still pretty confident Nintendo of America is going to “surprise” us with these games and Xenoblade. There won’t be any fancy reversible covers or anything like that, I’m sure.

Europe hogs all the good stuff: Wii redesign, The Last Story, Pandora’s Tower, & more

Lots of news for Europe’s Nintendo fans! The biggest item: Wii is getting a slight redesign in that region, which cuts GameCube support but features a reduced price. Designed to sit horizontally, the system is packed in a new bundle shipping this October with Wii Party and Wii Sports.

Most European gamers likely won’t miss GC compatibility, as they have plenty of new titles coming up; along with Xenoblade hitting this week, they’ll get well-received RPGs The Last Story and Pandora’s Tower some time next year — none of those are announced for North America.

Europe even gets The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword two days earlier than us (U.S. release date: November 20). Oh well, at least we can drown our sorrows in the new $19.99 Nintendo Selects games: Super Paper Mario, Mario Strikers Charged, Punch-Out!!, and Super Mario Galaxy.

Here’s the full fall/winter lineup of EU releases for Nintendo platforms, including some eShop highlights:

“Thanks for being such incredible fans! Unfortunately, there continues to be no plans for NOA to release these 3 games right now.”

Nintendo of America’s response to recent grassroots efforts by gamers to release Japanese RPGs Xenoblade, The Last Story, and Pandora’s Tower to the States (the former two are announced for Europe but not the U.S.).

I presume NOA is too busy working on other Wii localization projects like Zangeki no Reginleiv, Fatal Frame IV, Captain Rainbow, and New Play Control! Pikmin 2 to work on these RPGs right now, right? Right? :o(

The publisher’s Facebook page at least offers some hope.

The Last Story’s battle system explained. Wow, I haven’t followed Mistwalker’s action RPG much — that is, unless you count the attention I’ve paid to vital gameplay aspects like packaging and promotional posters. Now I’m paying for that negligence in my not knowing what’s going on in this Wii game other than its battles looks awesome.

NeoGAF has more links to videos from last night’s public presentation on The Last Story, while Andriasang has an English liveblog of the Japanese conference.

The Last Story promotional poster (click for a larger image). You probably already saw the awesome artwork on this game’s Wii hardware bundle, but this is the most splendid piece out of everything Nintendo revealed today.

Sadly, this isn’t the actual art that will adorn the disc’s case. Those who preorder the game in Japan, though, will receive an excellent “Elements of The Last Story” bonus with a mini soundtrack and visual book encased in this fine box:

Before you ask, no, nothing regarding the game or its bundles/bonuses have been announced for North America yet, which seems to be the theme for all our posts today.

Five Level-5 3DS Trailers: Subbed Layton Vs. Phoenix Wright, Fantasy Life, & More

Much like Puff Daddy, we can’t stop, won’t stop, and possibly don’t even know how to stop posting Level-5 junk. It’s a sickness for which there is no cure.

After the break, you’ll find new trailers for Fantasy Life, Time Travelers, Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracle, and Cabaret Girls. We’ve also posted the Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright video for the third time, but this one has subtitles!

Wicked gameplay trailer for The Last Story, Mistwalker’s upcoming Wii RPG featuring real-time combat and cover systems. I haven’t followed this game at all other than admiring the occasional concept art released by Mistwalker and Nintendo (which is publishing this in Japan at least) — obviously, this is a failing on my part. So, expect more coverage of The Last Story here in the future!

[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]

Music from Metroid: Other M. This tender piano composition opens up Nintendo’s teaser site for the upcoming Metroid game, accompanied by a rare Samus Aran audio clip (in Japanese): “A dream. It’s as if I was watching a playback of a tragedy that really happened.”

Metroid: Other M is slated to release in Japan this summer. Nintendo also revealed teaser sites with similarly sentimental music for two other Wii games: The Last Story from Archaic Sealed Heat developer Mistwalker; and Xenoblade (formerly Monado) from Xenosaga/Baten Kaitos studio Monolith Soft.

Preorder: Metroid: Other M
