"Something’s wrong with Funghi today…" ⊟
I gotta play these Touch Detective games. That’s a gap in my DS knowledge for sure. And I want to be caught up for the eventual localization of this game, Touch Detective 3 (right? Right? Atlus?)
We see what you’re doing, Touch Detective 3 ⊟
Success’ DS adventure game series is famous for Funghi, a character who looks suspiciously phallic (and who became a sensation in spinoff iOS games).
Now the antagonist of Touch Detective 3 is a banana man. I don’t think this is a coincidence.
…or maybe it is, and the character designer doesn’t realize what is happening. The whole game is a giant Freudian slip.

Touch Detective: Funghi’s Big Breed trailer
This 3DS puzzle game spinoff’s trailer appears to have been posted back in December, but this is my first time seeing it. As with all things Touch Detective related, I kinda think I should mark this NSFW…
"Song of Nameko (Funghi)" by Haruka Fukuhara. So, remember when I said that Funghi from Touch Detective was becoming weirdly popular after an iPhone spinoff game came out?
Well, here’s more proof, the lead single from the “Nameko’s CD” collection, an album of songs about the mushroom guy from Touch Detective. You can listen to samples of all the tracks, including a bouncy Sexy-Synthesizer chiptune song, on the official website.

Funghi iPhone cases, available from Strapya. After the release of Touch Detective and its sequel on iPhone, Funghi is totally a thing now – whereas before he just looked like one. There’s a spinoff game, Mushroom Gardening Kit, about growing Funghi and various other suggestive-looking mushroom pals, aaaaaaaand a bunch of spinoff merchandise, like these cases.
And this little Funghi that sticks out of your iPhone headphone jack!
And this lanyard!
And this stuffed oni mushroom thing!
In fact, there’s a surprising amount of Funghi stuff. I had no idea!

Tokyo Beat Down wallpaper. Featuring Touch Detective's phallic Funghi! It's a shame that the Tamsoft-developed brawler (like most Tamsoft-developed games) is apparently not that great, because I really want to like it. Look at this goofy artwork!
Even if it turns out terrible, I’m going to have to find out first-hand.
