Custom Solatorobo DAHAK model, seen at Winter Wonder Festival. There’s been a bunch of Solatorobo merchandise in Japan, but never anything like this! CyberConnect2, Namco Bandai, toy companies, and, uh, guy who made this model: you should all get on that!

Super Mario 3D Land Enemy Collection keychains. One of the best things about Super Mario 3D Land is that you can count on pretty much every enemy to dress up in a raccoon tail at some point, whether it makes sense or not. A Bullet Bill with a tail on is both adorable and surprisingly tricky. If you want the full set, you can pre-order it from HLJ at a discounted price of around $15.
I’ve just realized that the Mario games have led me to a lifestyle in which I believe it makes sense for some creatures to wear a false raccoon tail, but not others.

Kirby Wii Mascot Figures. Yes, more Nintendo figure news. While I may not have been the biggest fan of Return to Dreamland, there’s no denying that it’s got some cuuuute Kirbies in it, and I find the prospect of having a 50mm version of one on my desk pretty appealing.
These will be out next month in Japan, and as usual, I’m sure an importer will pick them up soon. Whip Kirby! Uh, that was an exclamation of excitement about the Kirby with the whip ability. Not a command.

Zelda Figure Collection toys. Yes, more Nintendo figure news! This set includes versions of Link and Zelda from Skyward Sword, Ocarina of Time, and Phantom Hourglass.— which reminds me that I have no toys depicting Wind Waker-style Link, the only Zelda toy I’d ever need.
NCSX just opened pre-orders for complete sets, at $28.90. They’ll ship in April.

Star Fox 64 and Steel Diver figurines, part of the Nintendo Mechanical Kit Collection of (I think) capsule toys.
For ¥300 yen ($4) a piece, Japanese consumers will be able to get miniatures of the Arwing, Landmaster tank, and the Blue Marine submarine, along with… man, I don’t know, I didn’t play Steel Diver long enough to learn the names of the subs.
These will be sold in Japan starting in May. I’d be way surprised if these didn’t show up for import pre-order soon. Then you can have your own tiny little vehicles, which you can imagine are full of the teensiest furries, all squeaking out adorable, barely-audible catchphrases.

Unnnnnnfortunately, it’s only sold in blind boxes, each containing a piece. So there’s no telling how many ¥4,620 boxes of nine pieces you’ll have to buy in order to get all 11 map parts.
Now, if you want to buy something complete, in one go…

This memorable scene of Quote carrying an unconscious Curly Brace has lots of great details, large (the optional air bubble) and small (junked robot parts on the floor). I always find this sequence really nerve-wracking…
The basis for this figure is a Pinky Street toy, with Ash from Pokemon as the head.

This rad 7” statue is available for pre-order from NCSX for $86.90, shipping in February. If you can’t rep Slimes in your apartment for some reason, this is a pretty cool alternative.
But if you aren’t subject to some kind of Slime restriction…

Figurine of Metal Slug 4’s Fio, by Embrace Japan. This 1/8 scale figure comes with a tiny Metal Slug tank and prisoner. I’d rather get a bigger tank and a smaller Fio, but this is still pretty fun!
It’ll ship in Japan next March, and is up for pre-order now at import shop AmiAmi for ¥7,680 ($99).

Check out his Wikipedia description:
“Heinlad usually acts dazed and vague, often talking with a lazy and nonchalant style. He has a clock in his stomach, which gives him the ability to manipulate time.
His super secret skill is being able to stop or stretch time for a limited duration, but there’s a flaw in this ability: he still can’t control it at will. Heinlad’s past and combat abilities are surrounded in mystery. …
His beast mode is also unique, being based upon the tanuki or raccoon dog animal. The most notable feature of said animal was amazingly large testes which, according to Japanese legend, the tanuki used as both seat and as drums. This trait is reflected on the toy as two round objects right underneath his clock belly that become hip pads in robot mode, one of which contains his spark crystal.”

I’m pretty sure this toy proves that unlicensed Mario toys have the genuine article officially beat, with its spectacular off-model-ness, the rotating facial expressions, and… the backpack. Why is he wearing a backpack?
As with some other Dealextreme toys, this is shipped in “random colors,” so you’ll end up with either red or green Mario. Not Luigi — green Mario.
