Nintendo has created a new site that will let you post in-game screenshots taken in Animal Crossing: New Leaf (and in Tomadachi Collection: New Life) directly from your 3DS to Tumblr or Twitter.

All you need to do is load up i.nintendo.net in your 3DS’s built-in browser, login to the appropriate service, pick your photo, add a message, and post. Yeah, it’s not as convenient as an in-game tool, but it’s another sign that Nintendo is embracing Tumblr.

I was wondering when I’d finally see a video game take on these clever GIF tricks that play on Tumblr’s photo set borders (click the image if it’s not animating for you). I learned last week that these have been popular on people’s dashboards lately, so I wouldn’t be surprised if there are a lot more similar game GIFs out there that I just haven’t seen yet, like this Super Mario World one. If you’re not on Tumblr or aren’t familiar with its GIF culture, this probably doesn’t make sense, but it’s still a fun Charizard animated image for your Sunday.
