I just wanted to give you guys a heads-up that I’ll be out of the country for the next two weeks, vacationing in the Philippines and completely ignoring the internet.
Though I won’t be around to put up the latest DSiWare news and video game fanart, I made sure to prepare a lot of posts to go up while I’m out, so expect a bunch of Shiren junk, Golgo 13 scans, and pantsu during my absence!
Also, we have a few friends scheduled to stop by and help JC get up a some interesting items while I’m out, so you won’t have to worry about the site no longer receiving regular updates. Enjoy an Eric-less Tiny Cartridge!

Vacation shopping report! I had one big-ticket item in mind for the inevitable Tokyo game shopping trip, something I had been saving for in anticipation. And here it is: my very own Twin Famicom. I’ve wanted a Famicom since small times, and when I got to Super Potato, I splashed out for almost the best one I could get (the blue one was a bit more expensive, and differed only in that parts of it were blue). I still feel like there’s something special about playing games stored in those little, colorful boxes that doesn’t even come through when playing the NES games. I suppose I have a thing for tiny cartridges.
Along with this, I got an assortment of cartridges and disks. I was concerned mostly with quantity: I wanted a nice collection, and I like playing crummy games, so I picked up a bunch of cheap stuff, including an 8-pack of cheapo carts. My purchases included genuinely good stuff like Rockboard, Konami Wai Wai World, and Parodius Da!, not great but interesting stuff like Takeshi’s Challenge and Namco’s Star Wars, and lovably awful crap like Dough Boy and Fighting Road.
As for disks, well… none of them work. Either my disk drive is busted (the drive belt looks fine) or all the disks are corrupt. It’s a project.
I bought a couple of other games and game-related things in Tokyo, which I’ll save for a final shopping post. If I’m going to be self-indulgent, might as well go all out. In the meantime, please send me recommendations for Famicom games! And tell me anything you know about Disk System issues, beyond “it’s probably the belt!”
