Vita firmware 1.80 is live, which enables PSOne Classics support on the handheld. But not, like all the PSOne Classics. Here’s the official list of US “launch” games:
Plus four more MonkeyPaw-published games that aren’t on Sony’s list for some odd reason:
The situation is wayyyyyy better in Europe, where 129 games go up for Vita today. But neither territory allows me to play Um Jammer Lammy on my Vita, so :(

DJMax Technica Tune gameplay footage. Turns out this game is a lot easier to understand when you can watch someone play it!
This game is due in September for Korea and Japan; no North American date has been announced (but the game is coming out here!) This summer has been CRAZY for music/rhythm games! Theatrhythm, Rhythm Thief, Dyad, Sound Shapes, and Rock Band Blitz and Retro/Grade are on the way…

I’m really, really happy with this thing that went up on Joystiq today. I worked with Konami and WayForward to present a timeline of the development of the weird Vita game Silent Hill: Book of Memories.
Both companies gave me a TON of never-before-seen early concept art and screenshots, including images of a demo Wayforward put together to pitch themselves as developer. Plus there’s a very detailed timeline of development.
I’ve certainly never done anything like this before, and I’m so happy it worked out. Please go read it so it’s not outperformed TOO much by some random video.

Theatrhythm Persona 4 illustrations by Satake. I totally missed out on Persona 4 when it released for PlayStation 2, but after hearing so many great things about it, I’m definitely picking up the PS Vita port that releases this fall.

New Little King’s Story screens. Ninjas! Football players! Ah, crap, Shishkebaboo pinball again. Here’s one more shot that didn’t fit in the gallery:

I still don’t really know how I feel about this game. Little King’s Story is my jam, and I’m looking forward to having a portable LKS, but I’m still just a bit worried about this new one lacking the Kimura magic that elevated the original. I’m also a bit worried about fighting Shishkebaboo again.

New trailer for Assassin’s Creed 3: Liberation, which has become one of my most anticipated PS Vita games, along with Dragon’s Crown and Sound Shapes. Love the use of Bjork Bat for Lashes, too!

Street Fighter X Tekken Vita trailer. The big news today, of course, is the October 23 release date, and the AR photography stuff is pretty interesting too.
But the most interesting part for me is that the silhouette people from the Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition trailer are back to demonstrate another handheld fighting game’s networking!

Ys Celceta: Sea of Trees opening. Once again, a new Ys game is on the way (to PS Vita), and I’m excited. Once again, I’m going to buy it if and when it comes out stateside, and once again, I’ll make it a couple of hours in and have to stop for some reason.

“Perumetalpawa Beramiku” introduces himself in class. This incredibly bizarre Vita commercial touts the upcoming Japanese lineup by combining all of the titles into the name of an intense exchange student in a Japanese school.
I love this because, while it’s really random and weird, it’s also funny and memorable, but not quite as random as some dude bark-singing with a guitar.

Assault Gunners, a downloadable mech action game coming to Vita in Japan. Now, this isn’t the kind of thing that will SAVE THE VITA, but it is the kind of thing I’d like to download for like $10-$15 and play. Right now, developer Marvelous AQL has announced it only for Japan.

Hatsune Miku Project Diva F accessory set for Vita. This set includes a pouch (not pictured), a card case, a charm, cleaning cloth, two sheets of stickers, and a strap.
These Vita accessories tie into the Hatsune Miku game that Sega randomly brought to E3 this year, confusing the hell out of me in the process. It was a fun game, at least?
