The chorus to this catchy Japanese vocaloid song actually translates to “I can’t get up! I can’t get up!”
Apparently, this is a whole thing, with dozens of variations all showing a character/creature stuck on its back. I believe this all traces back to Hatsune Miku (naturally)?
This is my favorite out of all the videos (first part):
He can’t get up! He can’t get up!

Tonight brings with it two excellent chip/8-bit music shows, Fami-Mode in Tokyo (watch these videos!) and Pulsewave in New York City. It’s disheartening that I’m unable to attend either event.

Occasionally, Akibablog’s text will be so entertaining that I have to link to it, no matter what the subject matter is. In this case, it’s a figurine of Rin Kagamine, a Vocaloid character like Hatsune Miku (also one of the stars of the homebrew Rinlen game) by Good-Smile.
Akibablog posted two quotes in particular about this figure that made me laugh out loud. From the blogger at Earlbox: “her ero-kawaii (erotic and lovely) armpit and ass are like god!” And Akibablog’s translation of a retail sign at Asobit Chara City: “this ass! Seduces us… huh.”

Vorc Records has released several more samples from its tribute to Japanese “techno-pop unit” TM Network, which you can pick up at HearJapan. The second track in the above clip, “Telephone Line”, is way smooth, one that I’d put on while making eyes at my lady.
Here’s another 8-bit Prophet sampler set from Vorc Records posted just last week:

I’m a huge fan of vocals in chiptune tracks, but I never expected that I’d one day appreciate “voicaloid” songs with lyrics typed into a singing synthesizer application. Who knows, maybe this is like crabs, something that will pass after a few weeks of rigorous shampooing.
Here’s another excellent chiptune/vocaloid joint that you might have already seen at my other gig, this time from VORC Records’ 8-bit Prophet album:

I was wondering what the big deal was when Namco Bandai announced that Ms. Miku would be lending her talents to the DSiWare game’s soundtrack. It makes a lot more sense to me, now. Here’s the original.
And here’s a video of Korogashi Puzzle Katamari Damacy that was snuck out when no one was looking:

There isn’t really a point to this “game,” other than to throw onions and change the characters’ facial expressions while a synthy rendition of a Finnish polka song play.
If this wackadoodle clip interests you at all, you’ll be happy to hear that it was one of three homebrew releases from programmer MeRAMAN that I covered in my feature “Japanese homebrew games that will blow your mind.” Hardly anyone read it when we originally ran the piece — here’s your chance to amend that injustice.
