Wallpaper version of Anthony Clark’s Nedroid-ized Super Mario Bros. comic (click for a larger image — might need resizing to fit your display), colored in by Mike Horowitz.
This one was originally called “Mario we’re all very concerned about you”, and you can see that concern in Luigi’s worried pat, Princess Peach’s wiggly waggly arms, and Toad’s glum expression. What madness befell this once great brother and friend, that he now hops around the Mushroom Kingdom in frog pajamas?

Jump on that, kids.

The above image, by the way, is from a wallpaper that Capy artist Tri Vuong posted last November, but I hadn’t seen it until today. You can grab that shiz over here.

Okamiden wallpapers. Capcom is releasing wallpaper images monthly, roughly coinciding with the Chinese zodiac. I didn’t even know the Chinese zodiac associated months with animals! Restaurant placemats failed to teach me that information. Thanks for the free education, Capcom!
The zodiac/calendar wallpaper is available in multiple sizes from Capcom-Unity. In addition, the less educational character wallpaper can be found on Facebook.

Video game icon pattern by Sérgio Estrella. If you tile/crop this in your image editor of choice, you can turn it into a pretty rad wallpaper for your PC or smartphone.
Mega Man’s helmet is so cute! There are a couple icons here I don’t recognize — can you identify them all?

Halloween-themed 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors wallpaper. Even though we missed this on Halloween, I thought it was worth posting now because
a) This Chunsoft-developed DS adventure game comes out in just over a week, and looks like it could be really interesting.
b) lulz

These are from the Super Mario Bros. 25th anniversary backgrounds (except for the R.O.B. image), hence the Famicom, but since it’s the NES’s 25th birthday today, I thought now would be a good time to make a batch of these.
I created versions for both older iPhones (which will also work with Palm Pres) and iPhone 4s — I would have made a series for Android handsets, but it doesn’t look like there’s a standard size for the dozens of models out there, so you’ll just have to make your own wallpapers!:

We don’t get the Mario DSi, DSi XL, Wii, the special edition of Super Mario Bros. or the Super Mario Collection Special Pack (at least, none of those things have been announced)… but we can look at these wallpapers on our desktops! I’d be a lot sadder if these weren’t so nice.
Nintendo is offering these wallpapers in a surprising variety of resolutions, ensuring that no matter your monitor’s layout, you’ll be able to stare wistfully at that screenshot, and the version of Super Mario Bros. you’ll never play unless you buy a Japanese Wii. Oh, okay, now I’m sad.

Slime-themed Dragon Quest wallpaper for your phone (click for a larger version). JC and I both added this design to our respective handsets, which you can see above — his iPhone on the left, and my low battery Palm Pre Plus on the right. I slightly edited the background for mine to make sure the bottom app icons didn’t obscure the Red Slime.
You can download them for your smartphone here:
While we’re looking at Red and Blue Slimes, you know those three Slimes that bounce on the bottom screen while your game is loading? Apparently, there is some crazy stuff going on behind it all, with the color of those slimes affecting your luck for enemy drops and alchemy success. And that’s not even going into the insane Pokémon/EV Training-style complexity of the Hoimi Table…

E3 2010’s highlights summed up in one image (click for a larger version)! Nintendo president/CEO Satoru Iwata holding up the 3DS! The Tether Girls! Konami weirdness!
I featured this artwork, which was used for the latest cover of Swedish gaming magazine Level, at GSW last week, but I’ve since found a digital, wallpaper-sized version of the piece posted by artist Jnkboy — download it here!

Pac-Man wallpaper by Katsuya Terada (click for a larger version). Namco Bandai commissioned the artist for this art in honor of Pac-Man’s 30th anniversary this year.
Terada, for those who don’t recognize the name, is the same brilliant artist behind much of the classy art for the Jake Hunter/Detective Saburo Jinguuji games, and is widely believed to have illustrated these stunning pieces from the Player’s Guides for The Legend of Zelda series.
It’s amusing that Terada imagines Pac-Man with such a big nose. I’m sure Pac-Man fetishists are pleased with this depiction.
