Theatrhythm Super Mario Bros. created as a microgame in WarioWare DIY by Dragonmario2011. Here’s a Theatrhythm Hatsune Miku game he created, too!
It’s unlikely we’ll ever see either actually made, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Square Enix produced a Theatrhythm Dragon Quest (and didn’t release it in the States).

Pondcrosser 2, the sequel to Duncan Robson’s sharp WarioWare D.I.Y. microgame about emigrating to the U.S.
Players need to dodge trucks/lorries by deciding which side of the road they should occupy based on verbal cues (e.g. trousers = Brits = left side of the road). It looks like you could cheat and change lanes based on which side the word appears on, but that would be missing the fun.
Robson created a pretty funny Iwata/GDC comic announcing Pondcrosser 2 that you should give a chance. He also would like to organize an unofficial WarioWare D.I.Y. group meet-up tomorrow at GDC — which might prove difficult to host, since most attendees probably didn’t bring their copies of the game with them — so contact him if you’re interested!

“Ambient Rave,” a percussion-heavy track made entirely in WarioWare DIY by mathgrant. I’m pretty delighted that almost a year later, people are still experimenting with one small component (the music tools) of this one odd game creation utility. That’s great!
Oh, and in related chiptune news, UncleBibby tells us that he’s just released a DSi/iPhone-produced EP titled Made On The Go: Music Made On Portable Devices. You can stream the album for free or buy it here.

Samples from “MEGA Micromusic,” an album available tomorrow from Dual Mode Records. Every track on the album was made using only the Record MakerMatic in WarioWare DIY! I guess… just to prove that it could be done.
Which, judging by the samples, it can be, and pretty well. I’m looking forward to checking out the full album tomorrow. It’s free!

3DS StreetPass microgame made in WarioWare DIY. Microcartridge’s Duncan Robson put together this quick microgame inspired by the StreetPass portion of this Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition features video.
When the 3DS hits and games like SSFIV 3D allow me to challenge random people, my life is going to be just like this, except without the eye contact, or the being outside.

Making microgames is even cheaper now, as Amazon has discounted WarioWare D.I.Y. to $19.99 — extra motivation to join the “video game snapshots” revolution!
And don’t forget that the system price cuts hit today, so if you’ve been waiting on those, you can now pick up a Nintendo DSi for $149 (Black, Pink, White, Metallic Blue, Blue), and a DSi XL for $169 (Bronze, Burgundy, Midnight Blue). Amazon hooks you up with free shipping.

“Dr. Wily prepares for Mega Man 11 in WarioWare D.I.Y.” by Jarosh Barksdale. These clever microgames are sort of like “video game snapshots,” but for the life of a fictional character! In these games, Dr. Wily prepares for Mega Man’s arrival by picking out robots, preparing his UFO, and even primping a bit. I don’t want to ruin any of it for you.

Weird NES-based WarioWare DIY microgames by AudioZan. I like these not just because they reference less obvious games than usual (like Ninja Kid and North and South) but because the gameplay is unusually multilayered for microgames. That Frogger/Super Mario Bros. 2/Blaster Master pastiche, especially. Also, lol shower scene.

‘Pond Crosser’, a clever WarioWare D.I.Y. microgame that serves as a commentary about the challenges one faces when emigrating to the U.S., created by Duncan Robson.
Robson continues to maintain his Microcartridge collection of personal WarioWare D.I.Y. microgames, though updates have slowed in recent months. Shawn Bradford has his own site dedicated to user-created microgames, which could also use a few new submissions. Why not create and submit your own video game snapshots for the two sites?

WarioWare DIY microgame based on CTA Digital’s Wings for Wii. Inspired by our post about the absurd Wii Fit Plus accessory, Duncan Robson put together this microgame with nice, detailed art (check out the game on the TV screen!) and even a shoutout to a certain website.
Speaking of shouting out to websites, you should check Duncan’s site Microcartridge for more DIY “snapshots.” Reader Shawn Bradford also started a Tumblr microgame archive about other people’s works. I’m glad that people picked up Eric’s lazyweb idea!

Bit. Trip Beat WarioWare D.I.Y. microgame by Segab. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen this game rendered in D.I.Y., but Segab’s version trumps the other with a more detailed background, and more variance in the dot patterns. It’s like playing a very efficient version of the WiiWare original — instead of 15-minute long levels, you can be mesmerized/frustrated in seconds.
