Amazon’s Crystal White PS Vitas likely repackaged from AC3: Liberation bundles ⊟

The top image comes from someone (Nephilim) who purchased Amazon’s newly listed standalone Crystal White PS Vitas, while the bottom is obviously from the Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation bundle that released in 2012.

This clears up some of the confusion over how Amazon started selling “new” white PS Vitas when Sony has never announced them or sold them non-bundled in North America. It looks like the retailer is just pushing previously unsold hardware in the same unsealed white box without the game.

Whatever, it’s neat that Amazon has made it possible for people who missed out on the original bundle to buy the Crystal White handheld again, especially for our Sagittarius readers. At least one person has complained to Amazon, though, that the hardware isn’t completely new and sealed, and received a 30 percent ($60) back!

Amazon is selling white PS Vitas ⊟
Wait, what? White PS Vitas were previously sold in North America with the old Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation bundle, but these are new and standalone units. Sony has never announced standalone white PS Vitas for the U.S.
If you want one ($200), you better jump on it soon — looks like the retailer only has around 500 in stock at the moment. Thanks to @Wario64 for the link.

Time to import a White 3DS XL, I guess

With the new hope that a 3DS hack circumventing Nintendo’s region-locking nonsense is on the way — and after seeing these elegant photos of Robert Jonasson’s system — a White 3DS XL purchase from either Europe or Japan seems imminent in my future. I would have taken care of this problem months ago, but Nintendo has yet to release the White model to the States.

There are also plenty of Limited Edition 3DSes worth considering — so many import wonders that region locking has kept from us.

We have launched silver- and white-colored GBAs, DSes, DSis, and in our [North American] market they don’t sell very well.

Nintendo of America president Reggie FIls-Aime explains why there’s no white 3DS or 3DS XL in the U.S. yet. It’s hard to believe this is true, but he would know Nintendo portable sales data better than I would!

The White 3DS XL really is a beaut:

Reggie added, “You might see a limited-time offer with a white or silver 3DS XL, or we might colorize it slightly differently. But in terms of an ongoing SKU, the consumer has responded … white or silver doesn’t sell nearly as well as blue or red or even pink.”

New Ice White color variation coming to the 3DS in Japan starting November 3. I’m not really the type to call gadgets “sexy”, but cot damn this thing is looking mighty fine.

U.S. release, please! And Nintendo of America, feel free to skip over the Misty Pink model to get this out quicker.

Custom White Game Boy Pocket (click for a larger image). Now, my love for the limited edition, Japan-only White Game Boy is old and well documented, but this simple mod, this stirring in my heart, is new and unfamiliar.
Though I’ve seen several sites mention that a White Game Boy Pocket existed (either available only in Japan or shown of as a prototype), I don’t think I’ve ever seen one. Marcus Tegtmeier sanded this system down to give the front a smooth finish before painting it white. I hope that paint didn’t damage the d-pad/buttons…
In related news, remember that Game Boy modified to play GBA carts? CRTdrone made another one and listed it on eBay, throwing in a dock for its rechargeable battery (pulled from a GBA SP, like all the other internals).

Nintendo DSi’s White and Pink models, releasing in the States on September 13th for 169.99, are now available to preorder through Amazon with free shipping (click the dropdown menu for different color options).

Of course, it won’t matter what color DSi you purchase if you decide to cover it with Gachapin and Mukku.

White and Pink Nintendo DSi systems, Black Wii Remote (but not the system) announced for North America.

The White and Pink handhelds will hit stores on September 13th for $169, while the Black Wii Remote bundle will release with a matching Wii MotionPlus and jacket this holiday season.

Oh, and Nintendo of America plans to put out a Wii Fit Plus disc “for people who currently own Wii Fit and want to add the expanded options to their fitness regimen” on October 4th for $19.99. The company will also offer an option to buy the game with a Wii Balance Board for $99.99, replacing the current Wii Fit bundle at stores.
