Two Zelda rings, because why not ⊟
On the left, a handmade aluminum ring featuring Saria’s Song from Ocarina of Time. On the right, a tungsten Zelda wedding ring. Whichever you choose, you’re buying more Zelda-related rings than I realized were in the world.
Zelda 3DS XL bundle $150 at Target ⊟
Well this deal is wacky. I can’t handle this deal. We even double-checked with Nintendo to make sure it didn’t mix up its bundles because this sounds too good to be true, but the company says this sale is for sure gonna happen.
Between November 28 and November 30, all 3DS XL hardware will be discounted to $150 at Target… including the new Zelda 3DS XL, according to Nintendo. Which comes with A Link Between Worlds. And looks super nice.
I’m not sure you want to be in a store at this time of year, but man, it’s a great deal if you happen to end up in one (I have a feeling these things will be sold out instantaneously).
The good news is that $150 is a great price for whatever 3DS XL you can find! Image via miggggg.
Secrets to everybody ⊟
Just one of many nods to previous Zelda games in A Link Between Worlds — this one has popped up in other recent releases like Skyward Sword, but I don’t care; it’s cute. Credit to ClassyLink for the pic.
Club Nintendo’s A Link Between Worlds poster set ⊟
For 500 coins, you can get the three posters seen here, each 22” by 28”. Unless they’re sold out by the time this post goes up. That happens sometimes. In which case you should, uh, print out the wallpapers? Or just wait for a restock?
"First step of any Zelda game" ⊟
Not sure what I’m going to do with myself when this beautiful year is over. This, our Year of Luigi. S/o to @dom2d for the original GIF/Vine.
Tiny Review - Zelda: A Link Between Worlds ⊟
You don’t need us to tell you The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds is amazing. Almost every reviewer (except maybe Destructoid) agrees it’s top tier, and you likely have the 3DS game shipping your way if it’s not already in your hands anyway. But since some of you insisted on Twitter, we’ll play our part as the arbiters of what’s fun on handhelds.
We’ve previously talked at length about all the changes Nintendo’s made to the Zelda formula have all been for the better: the Link-turns-into-a-drawing mechanic allows for new and creative puzzles, immediate equipment rentals let you explore the way you want to, and the game is full of welcome tweaks to streamline the experience. Since we’ve gone over all that, let’s just get to the usual bullet list of arbitrary observations.
Neat Zelda, Nintendo shirts from Threadless ⊟
Like, when was the last time a “haha Zelda reference” shirt was actually cool?
Here’s the trick behind the new Zelda's tilted view ⊟
Wow, I never gave too much thought to how the world must look with the game’s angled top-down perspective. Of course, everything straightens up in The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds when you switch to the side view while transforming into the painting/wall-walking mode.
Props to The Main Event for the appropriate Green Ranger GIF.
A Link Between Worlds prototype screen ⊟
According to this spirited Iwata Asks, the team working on the latest Zelda game at EAD couldn’t decide whether the mechanic of going into walls would be fun or not. So in something of a huff, assistant director and lead programmer Shiro Mouri made a prototype in one day.
"There’s this other programmer who is usually a really mild-mannered person, but [director Hiromasa] Shikata-san, who had suggested the idea, was so indecisive about it that the programmer got mad and angrily said, ‘I think the idea of entering walls sounds amazing, so what’s wrong with it?!’"
The whole process of development sounds oddly heated as they tell it, with producers constantly exclaiming “We can do that?!”
A Zelda block for your home ⊟
I’m as over Nintendo-inspired furniture as anyone, but I’ve never seen a “real” version of the blocks you push in Zelda dungeons. The “8-Bit Cube” is actually an ottoman/storage cube/table made of pine with vinyl decals on it, available from JamesBit for $150.
Did you listen to the new TinyCast, which is all about The Legend of Zelda: A Link between Worlds? If not, go ahead and do that right now — maybe check out the eShop while that plays, and grab one of the Zelda games currently on sale (Zelda 1, 2, and Link’s Awakening DX all 30 percent off).

We played The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds a bunch, and got together to share our thoughts on the game (avoiding spoilers)! We also discussed the Game Center CX movie, Slime 3DSes and shirts, and exciting wedding plans — I love that Christian and Fran’s imminent marriage (plus hints of the latter’s planned move to the States, and worries over their Bravely Divorce) is a common theme in our episodes.
Another common theme: Luigi Luigi Luigi Luigi Luigi.
