Zelda Figure Collection toys. Yes, more Nintendo figure news! This set includes versions of Link and Zelda from Skyward Sword, Ocarina of Time, and Phantom Hourglass.— which reminds me that I have no toys depicting Wind Waker-style Link, the only Zelda toy I’d ever need.

NCSX just opened pre-orders for complete sets, at $28.90. They’ll ship in April.

The Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary t-shirt by The King of Games, printed on either forest green or black, using “pearl/metallic grey” ink for the shield design and gold for the Triforce.

According to the t-shirt company, this design will only be printed once, and will only be available for pre-order from December 24 through February 20, worldwide. There’s no price yet, but it’ll likely be around ¥5,000 ($64).

The KOG site also offers this cool factoid about the Famicom-style shipping boxes they use: “KOG customers know that every shirt or parka comes packaged in a cool box, but did you know that the boxes are printed at the actual factory used to print Famicom boxes in the 80’s and 90’s?”

“Zelda Trump” cards. Each suit of this deck features art from a different Zelda game, including Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker, Skyward Sword, and The Legend of Zelda (in sprite form). This is a bit different from the Mario Trump cards, which separated each art style into its own deck.

On the downside, the cards aren’t all sprites. On the upside, it’s way cheaper to collect them all (the deck will cost ¥1,050 yen, approximately $13, when it comes out in December) and there’s totally a cucco card.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword’s Link on the toilet. I always wonder what the toilets are like in sci-fi/fantasy media. Like, if there had ever been a Star Trek: The Next Generation episode about nanobot Scrubbing Bubbles, I would have bought the DVD, no doubt. But I never really wondered what the facilities looked like in the Zeldaverse.

Now we know anyway. Feel free to update your blueprints and technical manuals. That still leaves the biggest Zelda mystery for me: who kept going into the Temple of Time in Ocarina, dressing Link in progressively larger clothes and washing the dust off of his frozen body?

Legend of Zelda Choco Eggs, available in boxes of 10 from NCSX this February. For your $30.90, you’ll get a random assortment of ten figures depicting characters from Spirit Tracks — and chocolate.

I feel no need to defend chocolate, but as for Spirit Tracks, that is definitely a “fuck the haters” situation. I guess some people didn’t like it? I’m, personally, enormously grateful for any Zelda game that emphasizes neat puzzle dungeons over “epic” storylines.

Welcome Home” by fmk. Click for so much bigger. It’s a … somewhat more fanciful interpretation of what the 3DS will look like than the last one we featured.

Link in Hyrule Field ring, Cucco Revenge ring, and Kuribo’s Shoe ring  by LiyoLabs. While it’s impossible to spend five minutes on the internet without coming across Mario and Zelda crafts, I think these rings distinguish themselves a bit with the smooth, pleasant artwork. And the Cucco focus.

Even more rings, some of which don’t feature game art, are available at LiyoLabs’s Etsy store — like this pixel bird ring, which I kinda wish I could pull off!

Vintage Zelda t-shirt, featuring Link on a skateboard. This design is based on the unreleased The Legend of Zelda: Skateboard of Mystery, in which Link found a magical skateboard that would tell the future of a different character depending on the trick performed. “You busted an ollie! …The shopkeeper will receive a shipment of arrows tomorrow!”

Artwork from CD-I Zelda games. These were posted as part of a collection of random art found on the laptop of HG101’s John Sczepaniak, acquired while interviewing Dale DeSharone, who led the team behind the infamous Zelda: Wand of Gamelon and Link: Faces of Evil

By the way, if you haven’t read that interview, you absolutely should. It’s one of the best resources anywhere for information about those weird-ass CD-I games. And if you want to see pictures of Tec Toy and Sega executives meeting semi-awkwardly, sometimes in front of a giant piece of amethyst,  you’ll enjoy the rest of the images from John’s roundup.

Vintage Link mask. I assume this came from one of those old costumes that consisted mostly of a vinyl smock with a picture of the character on it. I like to think about some kid running around on Halloween 1988 in this thing, looking like a creepy leprechaun in a muumuu, cutting his tongue on the mask’s mouth hole when he yells “trick or treat.” Actually, if you buy this thing from eBay, maybe you should give it a gentle disinfecting.

Can we make this the new standard mask for movie bank robbers?

My Zelda: Spirit Tracks review →

Forgive the self-link (about Link), but I just posted my review of The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks over at Joystiq, if you’d all like to read some things I said about that game for some reason. I haven’t gone through the comments to see how wrong and stupid I am, but I think the review came out okay.

I totally thought I was over the Zelda series, especially after the agonizingly slow-paced, dour Twilight Princess, but I kind of fell in love with this one!

A group of Nintendo dudes riding the subway. Unfortunately, the only name I’ve seen to credit this art to is the white “Vicki” inscription on the bottom right.

I’ve talked about subways a lot here lately, and I’m not sure why! Cincinnati (the uneventful city I call home) doesn’t even have anything resembling a decent mass transit system. Anyway, subways are great because they give you an excuse to play with friends like Marth and Jigglypuff. You know, your true friends.

Seeing two Links on a train also reminds me that The Legend Of Zelda: Spirit Tracks releases in just over a month. How did that happen?
