Shiren the Wanderer Wii playthrough.

Since Atlus hasn’t released any video or a trailer yet for Shiren the Wanderer – understandable, since it’s not releasing here until next Spring – I thought I’d bring out this Japanese promotional clip showing comedian and Famitsu columnist Hikaru Ijuin playing the roguelike.

It’s all in Japanese, so you likely won’t understand most of Ijuin’s reactions, but you’ll see a preview of what’s changed since Shiren DS – the ability to swap characters, new environments, frequent boss fights, etc. Lots of things are still the same, though, like dying after miscalculated moves and tripping over summoning traps.

Notice that Ijuin is playing with the Wii Remote turned sideways – there are also options for the Classic Controller, the Wii Remote with the Nunchuk, and the Wii Remote held vertically (not sure how this works!). You can see the different control layouts here.

The video is actually Game Center CX-ish, minus the lovable host. Speaking of Arino, Nintendaan posted this week’s series of Minna no Nintendo Channel videos, including GCCX playthroughs of Splatterhouse.
